NAMI SWI COVID-19 Update
April 1, 2020
Dear NAMI Southwestern Illinois Friends:
Hello Everyone. Are you getting “cabin fever? I sure am. In adjusting to working at home, I have found there are positives and negatives to doing so. I’m sure you are having the same experience. Well NAMI SWI is here to offer support during this time of uncertainty.
We continue to answer calls on our Help Line. If you need referral information, or just need to talk to a “warm voice” during this time, please feel free to call us at (618)798-9788. We will respond to your call within 24 hours. Remember, we are not a Crisis Line, as that is handled through crisis intervention program, such as those that Chestnut Health Systems, Centerstone and Call for Help operate. We know the stress of our current situation is adding to our lives. Visit our Facebook Page at: Nami Southwestern Illinois and our website at: namiswi.org for helpful information on ways to manage this time in our lives. Remember, there is a “light at the end of the tunnel.”
Our Family Support Groups are utilizing the virtual platform Zoom to hold virtual group meetings in the interim. The groups are occurring several times in the evening from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. You will receive an invitation to join, with the Link to get into the meeting. We encourage you to participate in this virtual experience. We are getting positive feedback on using this platform for meetings. Please click here for a list of Virtual Support meetings.
We are also pleased to announce that our first virtual Connection Group will be starting Saturday, April 4th at 12pm to 1:30pm. This is a great time for peers to share how you are doing in your recovery and receive support as you continue your journey. Let NAMI SWI help “carry your burdens”. We are excited to walk with you as we pursue wellness in our lives.
